All you needed to know about pain management with CBD
Have you ever tried CBD to deal with pain? More and more people use medicinals to stop suffering from chronic pain and other health issues. I share my experience with CBD today to not only show you it’s a good way to improve life quality but also to break the stigma about people that use CBD. Don’t forget to consult with your physician before trying any medicinals.
My journey to CBD pain management
It started a couple of years ago. I have fibroids and doctors have recommended just simply managing it using Motrin until I wanted to have surgery. So for me, it was just like “Ok, for how long will I actually continue to just take Motrin”. It’s widely known that there have been people who have kidney issues and other health problems from taking that level of medication on a long-term basis.
I didn’t consider CBD as a therapy for my fibroids’ pain. I was growing up in DC which was considered the murder capital. We had nothing but crack, cocaine, and hard drugs, so I had a lot of stereotypes of any drugs. Most of my friends smoked whippits and seeing them was really not aspirational.
Cooking with cannabis classes
Someone had mentioned once that I have to see a Netflix show (Cooked with Cannabis) where they cook with cannabis. I saw it and it was fascinating. During the pandemic, I’d met chefs that did a cooking class in Chicago and that was where my eyes were opened to the entire process of it. It was a super informational “Cooking with cannabis” class. One instructor actually used to be on twelve medications at one point to manage anxiety. So many medications caused many other issues. So doctors gave her other pills to deal with the side effects. She started using CBD for anxiety and her life has changed.
It was the first time I tried CBD as my pain dealing method. I don’t want to use painkillers until I eventually get the surgery. I was telling the instructor about my issues, so she offered me some CBD gummies. From there on, it’s been a complete game-changer for me.
How does CBD make me feel?
First of all, it’s better to find someone who can educate you about using CBD and the edible side of cannabis. Experts recommend starting with twenty milligrams to avoid unwanted CBD effects. I do gummies, CBD tea, candies, and I have started exploring oils personally. I still don’t do high doses (like over fifty milligrams), because I don’t like to feel out of control. CBD is a pain and muscle relaxer, so unless you’re ready to end your day, don’t go hard with it in the middle of the day. Because the day is done. Right now I have loose CBD tea before I go to sleep to manage my fibroids’ pain.
It’s important to start small. Don’t jump. You have to control your dosage and start lightly. CBD edibles or a CBD tincture need time to digest. They don’t work as fast as smoking a joint. It can cramp up on you if you won’t be careful.
CBD edibles and sleep management
When I first did CBD gummies I realized that I had my best sleep. I can deal with discomfort during the day, but what I dislike about my fibroids that how horrible my sleep is. So after my first night when I did those gummies, I woke up and I felt actually good. I actually felt rested. With CBD you don’t have effects as you do with Melatonin, for example. We are all busy; we are entrepreneurs and individuals have a lot on the plate and we go to sleep and wake up just as exhausted as went to sleep. So having a good rest during a night's sleep is very important for our mental and physical health.
Is CBD better for sleep than Melatonin?
It was better in order to have a good sleep with my fibroids because I had to triple my dosage of Melatonin with my level of pain and I had a morning weakness as a side effect. Instead, I can get a microdose of CBD, I have a better effect and wake up more relaxed in the morning.
For instance, I can have something at ten o’clock and I will be fine at six o’clock, but with Melatonin, if I decide to take it at ten o'clock I’m so gonna feel it at eight o’clock in the morning. That is the difference.
Some dispensaries do blends with melatonin and CBD for sleep. You can buy CBD gummies for sleeping. They have a small dosage of melatonin and cannabis. And you don’t feel lethargic when you wake up.
Importance of normalizing using medicinals in daily life
Sometimes you can be ashamed of needing something to deal with anxiety. Even between a community that has the same problems to deal with. For example, everyone knows how tensed toddlers’ moms feel. But it’s still a stigma to say that you’re using cannabis to deal with it. Moreover, there is a stereotype that people who are using have a special look. But it’s not true at all.
CBD not only has a recreational side but also has many medical CBD benefits that can drastically change people’s lives with so many mental and physical conditions. People don’t have to be ashamed of using cannabis if it helps them instead of pills with a list of side effects.
