How to Create Compelling Holiday Event Packages That Sell
The holiday season is a prime time for event planners, caterers, and venue owners to shine. It's when people are in a festive mood, ready to celebrate, and looking for someone to handle the details.
But how do you create holiday party packages that stand out and sell?
Pricing and packages can feel like a challenge for some event industry business owners. I can relate to feeling that way in the beginning of my business journey. As always, I am here to help guide you through the process to having success in your business.
In this detailed guide, we'll walk you through the process with practical tips and examples, so you can feel more confident about offering holiday party packages that your clients will love.
Step 1: Identify Key Services
The first step in creating compelling holiday event packages is identifying your key services. Consider what your clients typically need for their holiday events. Standard services might include:
Venue rental
Catering
Decoration
Entertainment
Event planning and coordination
List all the services you can provide and consider how they can be combined to create value-packed packages. The service should add value to your ideal client or target market. Please do not overthink this part. The clearer you are about you client needs the easier this step will feel. If you do not have many services in your business, you can collaborate or partner with of event industry professionals to execute the services.
Example: A basic holiday package might include venue rental, basic decor, and catering. A premium package could add entertainment and a professional event planner.
Step 2: Bundle Services Creatively
Once you've identified your key services, it's time to bundle them in a way that makes sense for your clients. Think about what services naturally complement each other and create packages offering various options.
Keep the bundles easy to duplicate. Creativity does not have to mean complexity. In fact, it is the opposite. You can think about ways to bundle your services in unique packages. Some business owners fall victim to thinking options means 100 different offerings.
Where there is confusion, there will be slower movement forward.
Step 3: Develop Pricing Strategies
Pricing your holiday party packages correctly is crucial. You want to ensure your packages offer value while still being profitable.
Here are a few tips:
Tiered Pricing: Offer basic, standard, and premium packages to cater to different budgets.
Value Perception: Make sure the bundled price is less than the total cost of booking services individually.
Early Bird Discounts: Encourage early bookings by offering discounts for those who book in advance.
There is not a right or wrong way to go about pricing (outside of the obvious underpricing). Every year, my team leans more towards the tiered pricing structure with upsells. I allows for us to offer a super basic package with elevated offerings for those who want more choices.
Example: Your basic package could start at $1,000, a standard package at $2,000, and a premium package at $3,500, with early bird pricing knocking off 10%.
Step 4: Add Unique Touches
To make your holiday party packages truly irresistible, add unique touches that make them stand out. Consider special offers, holiday themes, and little extras that enhance the experience.
The unique touches help with increasing the value of your bookings. It allows for your main package offering to be the baseline and additional touches bring in extra revenue.
This removes the stress from stuffing your packages with every single service and making it hard to handle volume within your operations.
Step 5: Promote Your Packages Effectively
Now that you've created your compelling holiday event packages, it's time to promote them. Use a multi-channel approach to reach your audience:
Social Media: Share engaging posts on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Use high-quality images and videos to showcase your packages.
Email Marketing: Send an email blast to your client list highlighting your holiday packages and special offers.
Website: Make sure your holiday packages are prominently displayed on your website with clear calls to action.
Pick one to two ways to market your offerings consistently. Please do not fall victim to overextending your marketing efforts as a solopreneur.
We find people have better success with marketing through intentional efforts.
Example: Create a dedicated landing page for your holiday packages with detailed descriptions, pricing, and stunning visuals. Include testimonials from past clients to build credibility.
