Camera Ready Makeup Looks

Lights camera action!

Getting camera ready isn’t always the easiest for everyone. What does camera ready mean?  Or are camera ready cosmetics legit?  According to Oxford Dictionary, camera ready means having an appearance which is likely to be attractive in photographs or on film; photogenic.

Now that’s technical for you! LOL.

There are ton of questions around makeup looks for natural to glam.  Depending on your niche and platform, camera ready makeup will differ. It all comes down to your brand. I have seen everything from supernatural to glam make up trends.  It doesn’t matter which direction except having makeup that looks flawless.

As a nearly 40-year-old woman, I’d like to keep my makeup simple and relatable. Your platform may be more animated, so dramatic is more expected. For others, makeup may not even be required.  We’ve all seen those makeup looks tutorials with 20,000 steps.  LOL.

The beauty about your platform is its a reflection of you and how you want to connect to your community.

Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about makeup and individuality through my modeling experiences. I’ve learned that it doesn’t require overthinking and excessive time. I find it easier to be consistent with showing up on my platform through the simple tips, and I’m giving now.

These tips will help you master a quick camera ready makeup look in under 15 minutes. The key is finding the right foundation, cheek palette, and eye makeup.

Picking The Best Foundation

All foundations are not considered equal. First in and foremost, wearing makeup is not necessary for success in recording or building a brand. Period!!!  If you’re looking for a photo finish quality, it’s essential to keep in mind lighting, your brand aesthetic, and your video quality.

These things make a difference in what type of makeup to wear. My social media content is created with my cell phone and natural light. I tend to do more natural foundations to avoid a ton of photo corrections and editing. My favorite foundations for a natural look are:

Maybelline Superstay

NYX Born To Glow

Elf CC Cream

Does it surprise you that the foundations are all drugstore brands? You don’t have to drop a lot of money on creating your camera ready makeup bag.

If you are leery about color matching, I highly recommend using the matching system on the brand websites. I find they are the most accurate. These brands give great coverage and natural finish for natural light recording.

Pick a flattering blush or bronzer.

As previously mentioned, it’s important to understand your lighting when choosing blush and bronzer. Harsh makeup, and natural light will look pretty interesting. I highly recommend choosing natural and flattering shades in the beginning. As you become more comfortable, play around with different colors and your lighting. The worst thing is doing heavy makeup that doesn’t translate well through the screen. My go-to check palette is from Beauty Bakerie. I’ve legit use a little concealer and the palette for the perfect natural finish. It’s everything you need in a face palette.

No Eyeshadow or All of the drama.

I’m pretty partial to this topic. I do have a belief around your makeup matching your style. There can’t be this pressure to have this glam appearance in the content creation industry. If makeup looks natural glam or full glam are not authentic to you, I have great news for you. YOU DONT HAVE TO DO GLAM

Deep breath in... deep breath out!

I hope that releases the pressure to do something that’s not authentic for your personality or a brand. I love doing liquid eyeshadow by elf cosmetics. It gives a little finish to my eye. I do have these other favorite pallets that are great for versatility and options.

My favorite makeup palettes are:

Juvia’s Place Afrique Eyeshadow Palette

Morphe 35F Fall into Frost Palette

Elf Rose Gold Palette

If you are a caterer, your makeup aesthetic will likely be different than a makeup blogger. That is perfectly OK! If you do not like wearing eyeshadow, don’t!

The key to having a quick camera ready look is keeping it simple in the beginning. My routine is below:

  1. Use a primer

  2. Apply medium coverage foundation

  3. Use a concealer under the eyes

  4. Apply bronzer, blush and highlighter from Beauty Bakerie Bar

  5. Apply HD loose powder

  6. Fill in my brows

  7. Apply mascara

  8. Apply lip color

  9. Spray fine mist setting spray

The beauty in your beauty is you! Camera ready for you does not have to look like it looks for me. Release the pressure to look like something that’s not authentic to you, your brand, or your personal style. I hope the suggested items help with you finding your camera ready type.

What are your favorite makeup brands for camera ready looks? Also, do you ever feel the pressure to look a certain way on camera?
