4 Must Haves for Staying Healthy

One thing about a healthy lifestyle is that it’s not a destination but a journey. Some days are amazing while other days have challenges. It’s learning to forgive yourself for the setbacks and celebrate yourself for the wins.

Over the years, I have had ups and downs. I had found myself close to 300 pounds again! I don’t know if you can relate.

When starting my business, I put all of my love and energy into my business and forgot about myself. It wasn’t until I couldn’t fit my clothes that I realize something was wrong. It was an eye-opening experience.

I had to get real real real with myself. My company was going to be there. What about my health? I knew what happened to my body when I got over 300 pounds. I have found myself at 323lbs in college. I did not want to go back in that direction. Thus, I decided to take control of my health and give my body the same amount of attention that I was giving my business.

I want to share with you my four must-haves for regaining my health and my confidence. The reality is it’s taking it day by day and sometimes hour by hour.

80% Nutrition

It may sound cliché, yet it is true. A healthy lifestyle is really 80% nutrition 20% fitness. I was an athlete growing up and I was trying to outwork my diet. I found myself defeated when I was working out all the time and still gaining weight.

My secret weapons are Herbalife and Meal prep. I had to get control over what I was eating and putting into my body. My best results happen with structure. The more I have to think about food and what I’m eating, the less likely I will follow a plan. People think working from home means you have some ease of eating correctly. That’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard!! If I don’t have anything cooked, two things are likely to happen. I won’t eat or I will eat the wrong thing. Have you ever been to the house hungry with a fridge full of food and not wanting to cook? LOL. I think we have all felt that way at some point. That is why meal planning is important.

The difference between meal planning and grocery shopping is the cooking component. If you are going to the store and grocery shopping for all of these healthy meals and snacks and don’t cook, you will likely keep repeating the same habits. People waste so much money on healthy foods and snacks and end up trashing them at the end of the week. Why you might ask? They never had a plan to actually cook them and eat them.

I’d like to incorporate my meal plan and Herbalife together for consistency reasons. Their shakes are amazing and super fast to me. I do eat 5 to 6 times a day or every 2 to 3 hours. My favorite Herbalife products are the Formula 1 meal replacement shake, the herbal tea concentrate, and NRG energy tablet.

Water Time

Let’s get to drinking! Yes, water is essential in balancing a healthy diet. Water can play a significant part and weight gain, bloating, constipation, horrible skin, and so much more. There can be a debate around how much water to drink.

I do aim to drink half of my body weight in ounces every day. I’m 6 feet tall and weigh 240 pounds. I do drink a gallon of water a day. Or at least I try to LOL. I find my best results happen when I am hydrated. When you are dehydrated, you will retain fluid and thus put on water weight. Try to drink a gallon a day for seven days and see what your body does. You will be amazed!

MyFitnessPal

Food logging in Myfitnesspal is helpful tips for watching your food consumption. Some people like to do it on paper. I love to do it electronically. Myfitnesspal has been a game-changer in my understanding of food and its contents. Over the years, I have helped people lose a lot of weight.

The most significant misunderstanding comes around food, calories, and nutrition facts.

Myfitnesspal helps with closing the gap. I can’t even remember the number of times people were blown away by their everyday choices and what it cost them in their goals. That simple salad that you thought was healthy but it was 1000 cal with 400 g of fat and 5000 g of sodium. It will blow your mind away.

Setting up your profile is simple, easy. The key is using it daily. If you follow the first tip on meal planning, you will find that it is super easy to log your food. If you find yourself eating out all the time, you may find it challenging.

Proper clothing

The last hip may seem silly. Proper clothing for curvy bodies is essential. First things first! My focus on my health has nothing to do with wanting to be skinny or fit into anyone else’s norms. A healthy lifestyle to me is precisely that ... My health! I’ve witness peoples spite for their health and life daily. I want to do my part to live my best life.

Now that that’s out-of-the-way. LOL. I have to dress this curvy body. I don’t call it curvy. I like to call it juicy too LOL. I love having muscles and being fleshy. I have some favorite brands that I always wear for working out. I don’t always wear plus size workout apparel due to being tall. I am in love with these leggings and bras.

Besides, I do like to wear a waist trainer for back support and to help sweat more in my midsection. I do have fibroids, and the extra support in my back while working out makes a world of a difference. Those fibroids girl will work for your nerves and your results. That’s a conversation for another day!

I hope that you found these tips to help get started on your health journey. Just remember the word journey! It is not a destination. Check out my free meal prep class. It would be great to have you as a guest.
