3 Productivity Hacks To Master Your Results
For years, I couldn’t understand how some people seemed to get more stuff done. The ultimate goal to master productivity has plagued us all at some time.
The “I sleep when I’m dead” culture pushes this idealistic approach to get everything done fast. It can feel like the list continues to grow while the struggle with productivity interferes.
One thing I’m learning in entrepreneurship is productivity and busyness are two different things. I’ve had to learn to stop being reactive and operate in a way that’s proactive.
That seems easier said than done. I’ve learned that not mastering productivity affects personal and professional relationships.
What does the lack of productivity cost you?
Ouchhhhh. It can cost the most invaluable commodity… TIME!!!
Webster dictionary states productivity is the effectiveness of productive effort, especially in industry, as measured in terms of the rate of output per unit of input. Another description is efficiency.
At any given time, I can have the church, business, health coach, and personal obligations. My goal is to live a full life. Being productive doesn’t mean not living a big life. You too can have it all!!
I will share my three main productivity hacks to help keep my sanity, and nurture relationships while growing a brand. It involves mind dumping, proper app selections, and utilizing automation.
Productivity Hack #1: Mind dumping through Trello
My head can feel like a ton of tabs open at any given time. In my previous blog on Working Your Plan, mentions the importance of having a structure. The best way to close some of those mind tabs is mind dumping into a centralized system.
I love active mind dumping to open up space to improve focus and clarity. It keeps my mind from running on topics not related to my current tasks. On my planning days, I can move the topics to the appropriate priorities.
Trello makes it super simple to clearly compartmentalize important tasks or delegate. You can access your boards on desktop or mobile device interfaces.
I recently read an article on Venture Harbor. They listed 19 Productivity Hacks to Get More Done in 2020 in a blog.
“The first thing you need to do before you can maximize productivity is to stop multitasking. This is one of those long-established habits of busy people who are desperate to save time by doing more than one thing at once or switch between tasks.
Sadly, multitasking is a false efficiency that ends up costing you more time than it saves. And, to make matters worse, studies have shown that multitasking has a wide range of negative impacts on the human mind.”
I agree 100% on this. Some people are wizards are multitasking. Get it out of your mind and place it into a system. Focus on your current tasks. Surprisingly, you will space for more creativity without remembering EVERYTHING!
Productivity Hack #2: Google Docs and voice recording
I have a little secret. I use voice to text for creating emails, text, and blogs. Yes blogs! One of my friends has recommended me to use voice texting for my blogs and that was a game-changer. I find myself getting stuck when it comes to just sitting down and writing.
This productivity hack helped cut down on wasted time sitting in front of a computer and dealing with a mental block. Often, I travel between Louisiana and Texas. I can knock out four blogs through voice text on a three-hour one-way trip. The key to productivity hacks is finding where you’re getting stuck and finding a solution to get around it. You can use this for any app that requires typing and use the microphone on your phone. Some may see this as lazy. I find this genius. 😝
Productivity Hack #3: Automation through Hootsuite
Lastly, automation is the key to productivity as an entrepreneur. Remembering to do things at certain times can feel overwhelming when you’re doing the day-to-day activities. I love using HootSuite to manage my LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. You can have it manage more than one account, which is helpful for those managing multiple brands and platforms.
They do have both free and premium accounts. I’m still using the free option. It’s mostly for my Luxegiving account only. The best way to use HootSuite is scheduling weeks at a time. Set it and forget it! Once you find a rhythm, you can do batches at 2 to 3 weeks at a time and reduce stress or schedule breakdowns.
As you can see, automation to voice texting makes a huge difference in productivity. You don’t have to do it all to have it all. The key is learning how to increase your efficiency to get better results. Don’t fall victim to just being busy. I challenge you to become efficient and producing the results that you want in your life, career, and family.
