Business Systems for Food and Event Industry
What is a Business system for food and event business? It’s an important question that is not often discussed in small businesses within the hospitality industry. In my beginning years in business, I remembered I had no actual structure, and let’s say my stress levels reflected the lack of a system. It never felt like there was enough time in the day for all of my tasks.
The first system that I tackled was my sales system. I knew the structure was necessary due to being a one-person company. I knew that things were falling through the cracks, despite my focus on providing good customer service and an exceptional reputation. My goal was not possible without a structure. It’s one of the first things I discuss within my hour strategy sessions.
According to Forbes article How to Put A Business System Together, it states “A business system is a documented procedure that outlines how to do something in your organization to achieve your business goals.” The article lists some great reasons to consider implementing a business system. Some reasons that stuck out to me were consistency, improving the ability to scale, and lowers labor costs.
Last week, I went live on YouTube and started the much-needed conversation in our industry. You will want to check out “What systems do you need to run a profitable event or food industry business.” I mentioned my favorite platforms used to help create structure in my business.
I love sharing these tips on social media to help other entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals. For years, I remembered wanting to know how to take my business to the next level. I had to go through trials and tribulations to find the best fit for my business. There’s a great deal of information out there for other niches, and sometimes it can appear to be barren for small businesses in the hospitality industry.
In a few weeks, I will go into more detail about writing a business system. I did enjoy how the Success Wise article Business Systems 101 mentioned the four primary methods to consider. The article listed marketing, sales, fulfillment, and administrative systems. These make a huge difference in taking a business from a hobby to a functional entity.
