Essential Questions For Your Company Contact Form
Contact forms are the way to bring someone from a cold lead into a genuine prospect. It’s one of the first formal connections with you and your customer. I have used contact forms in my event business for several years. It removes the guesswork on why someone wants to talk, how they found you, and other important information.
The days of back and forth text messages or emails interferes with productivity. Have you ever been excited about consultation and find out that the person isn’t a good fit? How about they are unaware of your price points? How about them saying, “I didn’t know you can do X?”
A contact form provides an opportunity to ask questions that prepare you to have the best interaction with your prospect. Sales calls play a part in any business. Landing a sales call with a high converting chance takes skill and craft. You are using your contact form with the correct information to position you for success.
On my social media, I love to talk about newsletters and other back-office processes. This is my first time talking about contact forms. I will share what to include in them to help with setting you up for success.
What is a contact form?
According to Wikipedia, ”A contact page is a common web page on a website for visitors to contact the organization or individual providing the website.” The definition seems simple and to the point. Most website platforms have contact page functionality like Squarespace and WordPress. I have one for both business brands.
In addition to your website, platforms like HoneyBook have contact form functionality. It will allow you to create different types of forms depending on the desired audience. A key component of your contact form is staying on brand and making it visible.
What should you include in your contact form?
Unfortunately, there isn't one size fits all for contact forms. One thing for sure is that a vague contact form does not help you or the customer experience. The name and question are a certain way to have unnecessary contact. The main thing to consider is what do YOU need to know to have a better understanding.
The main things to consider when creating a form are:
When is the best time to reach out?
What is the best way to communicate with the client?
When is the expected event date?
What type of services are needed?
How did they find out about your services?
Your contact SHOULD NOT be a complete life survey. LOL. People dislike 10-15 question survey forms. Keep in mind that your customer wants to speak to you, not just fill out a survey.
HoneyBook allows easy contact form creation that looks similar to a landing page. It is best practice to have a little company overview or video. Again, it is best to keep it clean with a value offer and purpose statement.
Should you have more than one contact form?
The number of contact forms will depend on the business. For example, a chef who does private chef services and online cooking classes can have two contact forms. Why? They can post the form in different places for marketing purposes. They can use a platform like Sociatap to have separate links specifically for each contact inquiry.
I have several contact forms depending on the intention. In addition, HoneyBook allows for automated workflows that specific contact form destinations can trigger. It helps with your productivity and organization.
Plus, I have contact forms for special events that I can send through DM or swipe up on social media. When designing your contact form, have clarity on the audience and how you plan to market it. Creating a contact form does not just attract leads. It comes down to YOU and selling it appropriately.
