Why Start The Minimalist Lifestyle?
The minimalist lifestyle was NEVER in my cards. I loved stuff and loved buying it all! I loved rewarding myself for the hard work done! Yet, it didn’t matter how much I bought. I still was searching for more. This girl would’ve been voted for as “The Least Likely To Be A Minimalist” award.
Why share that with you? YOU may be in the same place.
The term “minimalism” floats around a lot. You may have only seen those embracing the extreme minimalist lifestyle.
I have good news for you, boo. You don’t have to go the extreme route. There are different levels and expressions around the minimalist lifestyle. Do you want to live out of a bookbag? Cool! Do you want to live in a tiny house? You want to own 20 shoes? Cool! Do you want to live in a standard size house? THAT’S COOL TOO!
My first Youtube video shared my reason for getting started. My definition of Minimalism is living a life full of freedom, authenticity, and boundless self-expression. Okay! That may be a little wordplay. Yet, it is true. I find an abundance of space daily.
In my past, I was buying things to show others my success. It showed up in my home decorating, my over-packed schedules, cluttered phones, and life disarray. A crucial part of Minimalism is boundaries. I had none!
Money Under 30 article Minimalist Living: Is Minimalism Just A Fad? Or Can It Really Help You Solve All Your Financial Problems? mentions, “Minimalism is all about living with less. This includes less financial burdens such as debt and unnecessary expenses. For many minimalists, the philosophy is about getting rid of excess stuff and living life based on experiences rather than worldly possessions”. As you can see, there are different interpretations of the meaning.
My Youtube channel started to share ways to can about minimalist lifestyle tips. It can be an approachable way to living.
Have you ever considered integrating the minimalist lifestyle into your routine? If not, what has been your most significant concern around getting started?
It can be a lifestyle for everyone. Yet, I’m fully aware everyone won’t want to take it on. That is fine. It’s the beauty of humanity. We all have a choice in how we show up daily.
